Portage Country Club is a beautiful wedding and reception venue! The club is located outside of Akron just north of Highland Square and offers beautiful scenery for your perfect wedding day.
For those that appreciate history and architecture, the club was founded by Charles Goodrich (son of the founder of B.F. Goodrich) alongside Charles Raymond and Bertram Work (both executives at B.F. Goodrich) in 1894. Portage Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in America! The original clubhouse was designed by the famous Chicago architect, Howard Shaw and formally opened on May 19, 1906.

Whether you are looking for an early brunch reception or a more traditional, formal dinner celebration, the wonderfully talented Executive Chef can create a delicious, custom menu for your reception. The last Portage Country Club wedding I had the honor of photographing, chose an extremely tasty brunch menu. The brunch included fresh fruit, fresh made waffles, and even made-to-order omelettes, yum! The best part though had to be the delicious cinnamon roll cake made by Sweet Mary’s Bakery (pictured below).
The club not only has some of the old, historical charm, but they also just completed a major renovation. In addition to the beautiful indoor reception area and club, they also have wonderful and very well kept grounds. There are some great spots for gorgeous wedding portraits throughout the club both inside the historic venue and outside throughout the grounds with lots of beautiful flowers.
